Big Thanks To Wim from Tumaren and the AArdwolves

Category: Issues | Date: Apr 13 2008 | By: tumaren

Wim,
Many Sante Sanas for your contribution to our conservation work. I will need now to get that aardwolf pic as a sufficient thank you. In the meantime the Hyena Appreciation Society has some more members and with an Aardwolf picture well surely get some more. Hope your well, James

Wim, as a proud member of the Hyena Appreciation Society, thank you for helping our critters!

Oh promises, promises. Still you toy with my [Hya}emotions!
Well yes, it’s come to this actually; in the absence of our mythical Aardwolf, or indeed an old broom-head tied to a bit of string, shot through a bush, at speed, at night (two words James; Honey Badger? Hm?); I’ve resorted to bribery.
Failing Kerry furtively waggling a badly camouflaged teddy-bear at your deliberately out of focus camera, do you think you could manage a dancing Pangolin singing “Mr Bojangles”?
You know, nothing too complicated or fussy, nothing as difficult as say, an actual Aardwolf? ;o)

ok, i have just raised the stakes and told our rangers that it is a goat for the first aardwolf pic. we’ll show you!!
cheers, jc
funny you mention the dancing pangolin. kerry and i toyed with the idea of a april fools involving the camera and a distant unknown-to-science bipedal ape (from massachusetts). alas, we forgot.

No James, really, don’t go back-combing the cat for my benefit…
It seems to me that independent conservancies like Tumaren are crucial in reinstating, conserving and managing islands of undeveloped habitat; no habitat = no ecosystem (and no refuge for the camera-shy!)
Credit and thanks to you.
