Monster Centipede
Category: Insects | Date: Mar 24 2008 | By: tumaren
This centipede was found this morning under one of our tent floors. These centipedes evidently give a serious sting and one of my guys said that they can kill a camel (but are only very painful to humans). I don’t know from where the venom comes from. This particular centipede has rather formidable grabbers at its tail but I’m not sure if that is where the venom resides. This guy and a mass of toads as well as some snakes have been around with the beginning of our first rains that started the day before yesterday. hooray for the rains.

This is why you’re the conservationist in the field and I’m the supporter far away.

7 inch centipedes can make even the conservationist field guys shudder.

James, great bio. Massachusetts, eh? So how do you say, park the car?

I just avoid saying, let alone getting in or parking cars.

Very good advice. Women drivers, no survivors, is my personal motto.

Only 7″? Pah! That’s nothing. You should see the size of the b*ggers we got in the BVI (Caribbean). The tratttattrratttrattt of 22 plus pairs of legs scuttling across the tiles on a dark night would make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
Anyway, please remember me to KG…she’ll know who I am. Are celebrations in order? I had a confused message from my mother via Betty.
